Well, I'm back. We have been out of town and the computer was down for a while. Last weekend we went up to Glenwood for a few days, Peyton's aunt was in town and we got to see her. We went there Friday morning, she saw her great grandmother Dorothy. Saturday we left for Red Lake Falls, like 5 minutes south of Canada, I swear. My dad's side of the family is from there and my grandma turned 80 and it was time that Peyton meet her great grandma. Ander her great grandpa, God rest his soul. Stopped at the cemetery for a quick cry and introduced Peyton. The dog statue was a replica of a dog he had, so he protects grandpa.
Peyton seemed to like it.
We stayed at the Chateua Bottineau motel. Simulated wood paneling, cinder block walls, headboards mounted to the wall, and the LOUDEST air conditioner in the world, but I'm not complaining, we all slept like babies with the hummmmmmmmm. Great spot. Did I mention we booked our hotel reservation at the attached Liquor Store.. I bet you can't say you've done that! Dad, I'm not making fun (yes I am), it is just so typical of a small town, it's funny!
We visited great grandma, ate way too much, saw my relatives, who I really don't see often enough. It was nice to see everyone again, and got a tour of the farm. My grandparents farmed and lived there and now my uncle and family lives there and farms cattle. Peyton went face to face with the bull. Really. No zoom, we were that close. I thought my eyes were gonna swell shut-my allergies were so bad up there with the fine crop dust/wheat dust. Drove out to the pasture, my uncle's the best, said it would be at least a 1/2 mile so we better grab a beer.
The next morning we drove BACK to Glenwood, just in time to see her other great grandma in the Waterama parade, as Queen of the Nursing home. How cute is that!?!? We drove back Monday morning. We decided after this heat rush of 99 degree days, we will save our grass next year and invest in underground sprinklers. Our grass was a bit thirsty when we got back.
